210x334xhouse.jpg.pagespeed.ic.1-Z8tdwsazHi & Welcome!

I’m Heidi. Please join me in the adventures of renovating old homes while trying to raise our young modern family. Be it renovating, DIY, gardening or the occasional craft; whatever it takes to give a space some personality. Reimagining old house living (with a wink and a smile).

I am an architect, designer, old house lover, home renovator, gardener, wife and mom.  I live, work and write from our 1888 Stick Style Victorian just outside of Philadelphia that my husband and I have been slowly renovating for the last 12 years. Along with my other half Mr. S, we share our house and life with our 2 rambunctious kids, Sam & Maisie, and our 2 much less active kitties Spot & Spike.

I love color and pattern, getting my hands dirty and sketching. Whether it is my home or one of my client’s I think design should be fun and whimsical paired with practical and creative problem solving. I am a registered architect with many years (more than I want to admit to) of experience in designing and detailing buildings. I love that this blog gives me a place to share my design ideas.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed your visit and come back again soon.

P.S. I love comments and questions so feel free to drop me a line.

Awesome ideas, and awesome results! I did my house remodel some 5 yrs back, and I used Ikea cabinets in my kitchen.. all is fine but I was thinking of spray painting the cabinets and was wondering if that can be done at all. But you have done it! It really looks so nice and just in vogue, with the new colors and finish that looks so cool.. Thanks for sharing the custom Ikea kitchen. …
    Regards,

  4. I just stumbled upon your blog. I love your house! So beautiful. I share your love of old homes. We live in 1873 Victorian folk farmhouse. We work on it ALL the time! I am not as far along as you are (wish I were) but I love bringing it all back to life. I have a question for you…..how bad do you think hardwood floors need to be before you replace them? I love the look of old shabby hardwoods and want to refinish ours upstairs. They are solid but a mess! And a previous owner covered them with plywood. I pulled up some of the plywood to get a peek. Thanks for sharing your lovely home. : )
